Gemstones have been enhanced through various methods for hundreds of years. An average stone can be treated and enhanced into a beautiful and nearly perfect gem by a skillful lapidary. Sometimes, the application of enhancements like simple heat or more advanced procedures, their beauty is revealed.

Those enhancements are common, accepted, and even expected in the gemstone jewelry industry. Enhancements also help determine how to best care for your gemstones. Here we take several gem stones as examples:

*Quartz, usually used to be dyed to change its original color, normal care is ok.

*Amber is often heated to create color, it is very soft, so be mindful of scratching., avoid abrasives, ultrasonic, solvents and heat, requires gentle handling.
